Rhino3D
is a powerful 3D CAD/CAID program that can produce production/
manufacturing
quality models. However, the default renderer that comes with it,
is
less-than impressive. Blender fills in the gaps beautifully without
burning a
hole in the pocket.
Below
is a tutorial showing the steps that I use to bring Rhino 3D models
into Blender for rendering.
1. Model created in Rhino3D
|

|
2. Use Lightwave format (LWO)
for export into Blender3D
|

|
3. Adjust the mesh or polygonal density
using the Polygon Mesh Options
|

|
4. In
Blender3D, import the Lightwave3D file (*lwo) from file
menu.
|

|
5. With
the Object selected, toggle to Edit window
and click on the Set Smooth Button to smoothen
the surface.
|

|
6.The
model should smoothen itself (see below)

Set Smooth.
