Previously, we talked about the types of filters used for Landscape photography. In this article, we will dwell into the other types of equipments that can come in handy for landscape as well as nature photography.

Rucksack or backpack

You can't really do without this one. Rucksack designed for photographers comes with compartments to put your camera, lens and accessories. Lowepro is a popular brand for this kind of rucksack.

Tripod.

A tripod adds stability when taking shots. You might also want to get a tripod strap for better portability too.

Spirit level .

An important consideration for landscape composition is keeping the horizon straight. A spirit level or bubble level is useful for determining whether the composition horizontal. It is an instrument designed to indicate whether a surface is level or not.

Sun compass

The sun compass can be used to precisely map out the direction of the sun for every month. This is useful for planning early trips for dawn shots.

 

Maps

This is for navigational purposes. You will may also need other navigation tools such a compass as well. If you are taking landscape shots in the wilderness, navigational tools are very essential and important. This is because, wilderness may not have roads and other urban landmarks and this can make knowing your exact location a lot harder than in an urban environment.

Filters

This one has been covered and talked about in the previous article (here). Basically, the essential filters are Polariser, ND Graduated, Warm-ups and Colour graduated.

 

Well, in a nutshell, this is some of the equipments useful for nature and landscape photography. Certainly, there are many other stuffs that one can include in his/her photographic arsenal. But these are the basic essentials. Oh, don't forget to bring along the other essentials such as food, water and communcation devices such as cellphones.
