There are many ways to built shelters and huts. This is an article about building a type known as the Pyramid hut.

To begin, you will need to gather some long, fairly linear and fairly branches or stems.

Once we have enough branches, arrange them in the shape of a pyramid. This should form the basic structural framework for the hut. The shelter will eventually be the area within the pyramid.

Next, we need to horizontally weave the smaller branches around the main pyramid structure that is being formed by the main branches. After this, weave flexible branches with leaves and foliages around the structure. Continue to do so and build this in layers. It is a good idea to weave from the bottom up.

If done correctly, rain should be kept from sipping through. When building, if you can, face the opening of the hut from the direction of potential rain.

To prevent water from entering the hut from the ground, dig a drain around the hut and channel the rain water away from the hut.

You may want to improvise a bit by adding some primitive furnitures in the hut. For example, logs can be used as stool.

This is a good idea to have rope or nylon cords for securing of structure. Cutting equipments are also required to cut branches, leaves and the rope or nylon cord.
