Bush fire is an occurrence in hot and dry forested places. A bush fire can have disastrous effect to property and life. Therefore its prevention is very important. Below listed are some tips for the prevention of bush fires.

1. Ensure that garden hoses are connected to outside taps. Make sure that they are able to reach all areas of the garden and house.

2. Avoid accumulating papers, boxes, firewood and cartons under the house

3. Gather dried leaves and use them as compost. Clear away long grasses.

4. Prune shrubs and trees that are near the house, so that they do not become potential burning materials.

5. Metal hose fitting are preferred over plastic ones. This is to prevent melting.

6. Close off the area under the house. This is to prevent stray sparks from igniting.
