A tight jar can be a hassle to open. The following are 2 tips that can ease the process.

1. Warm the cover/cap if it is made of metal

Metal expands more and faster than glass. We can make use of this knowledge to open the jar if the cap is made of metal.  

Firstly, run the cap through warm water. Make sure that the cap is in contact with the warm water. Hold the jar in this position for a while. This should now expand the cap. 

Take the jar away from the water and turn it upright again. Twist the cap. It should be easier to open the jar now.

2. Use rubber band to provide better grip

Another method of opening jar cap is to use rubber band. Basically, wind the rubber band around the circumference of the cap. This should provide a better grip for the hand to twist open the cap.
