1. Use a scrapping tool Firstly we need to take away as much of the chewing gum as possible. A carpet cleaning bone scraper or just a rounded spoon may do the trick. Sharp tools should not be used as it may damage the carpet. 2. Freeze the remain gum The gum can be harden and made brittle by freezing. Chewing gum remover can do the job. However, this is not always available. An alternative is to use ice cube to freeze it. Once harden, one must quickly hit it with a tool such as a hammer to break in into smaller pieces. Once it has shattered, it can be removed with ease.
3. Get rid of the remaining residue A method of cleaning up the remaining mess is to use a spot remover. A good spot remover is citrus spotter. Citrus Spotter are made from natural citrus derivatives and do not contain any chlorinated solvents. Remember to shake the bottle before use. Dab the spotter on a suitable spotting cloth. Rub the damp cloth gently on the gummed spot of the carpet. It is better to start from the outside of the stained spot and slowly work towards the center. Also give about 1 to 3 minutes of dwell time allowance. Doing it correctly should remove any remain gun stain.
