Generally, a Single Lens Reflex camera can have many support accessories. All these adds to the fun of photography.

The followings are some common camera accessories.

External Flash

Flash momentarily increases the brightness to get a clear photo. It emits a short burst of bright light when the shutter is released. The disadvantage of using flash is that it can cast sharp shadows.

Zoom Lens

A zoom lens is a lens with adjustable focal length. This allows the camera user to zoom in and take close-up images even from a distance.

Filters are transparent or translucent optical component attached in front of zoom lens. They are designed to alter the properties of light entering the camera lens. They are meant to create certain effects to the resulting images. Filters can affect colour, contrast, polarity, etc.  They can also be used to create "special effects."

Camera Tripod prevents camera shake caused by camera movement. It can be used for long exposure and slow shutter speed shots.  Generally it is used for close-up, panning and landscape shots.
