Photography - Using Auto Bracketing for better shot choices

Category: Photography

What is Auto Bracketing?

When Auto bracketing is activated, the camera automatically takes a sequence of several exposures with settings at, over and under the suggested exposure. The incremental difference can be between 0.3 and 2.0 EV.

What is the advantages of Auto bracketing? It is convenient and quick technique to ensure that one gets an accurate exposure under tricky lighting conditions.

Autobracketing is a good practice when the scene appears to be tricky to be captured accurately. Normally, night scenes tend to be more tricky and autobracketing will ensure that a better and correctly exposed shot will be taken.

The disadvantage of using this feature is that it consumes memory and energy faster than single shots. So, if your memory card or in-built memory has limited storage, autobracketing must be used sparingly.

Lastly, not all cameras have autobracketing function. In such a case, the photographer will have to manually change the settings and parameters for each shot.

Well, in a nutshell, this is what auto bracketing is about.
